Shopping in Lecchi

The grocery store

Palmira's Alimentari or grocery store in Lecchi in Chianti is typical of the Chianti area. She stocks almost everything you could need during your stay in the Chianti, there is a friendly atmosphere and more often than not you are asked to taste from the provisions counter before you buy.

Next door her son Paulo has a small bar and stocks a huge range of Chianti wine, this is a favorite for private wine buyers looking to extend their own wine cellars.

I like To Tuscany, partly because it has a tremendous range of villas, and partly because (unlike many companies) it has an excellent website that provides what you really want when choosing a villa.

Our accommodation, which cost less than £800 for the week, is in a converted stone farmhouse next to a 12th Century Franciscan chapel. There is a pergola shaded by vines round the back here we quickly settle into a rhythm of eating long pasta suppers while the shadows lengthen.
