Hare
Although they look similar to rabbits, hares (Lepre in Italian) are larger and have longer ears with black tips. Their back fur is generally yellow-brown and white underneath, however in order to blend into the environment and avoid being caught by their predators, its colour often changes. For example for those living in the northern areas it can turn completely white when snow falls.
The hare is generally an easy-going animal that spends much of its day immobile and hidden amongst surrounding furrows, generally situated within flat-landed forests or cultivated land. However when it gets frightened it is capable of making rapid escapes in large leaps and can cover a long distance at an extremely fast speed. Nights become more active when it feasts upon surrounding plants with its long incisors and grinding teeth. Its young are born throughout the year with an immediate use of both eyes and ears and are completely self-sufficient by the time they are a year old.

I like To Tuscany, partly because it has a tremendous range of villas, and partly because (unlike many companies) it has an excellent website that provides what you really want when choosing a villa.

Our accommodation, which cost less than £800 for the week, is in a converted stone farmhouse next to a 12th Century Franciscan chapel. There is a pergola shaded by vines round the back here we quickly settle into a rhythm of eating long pasta suppers while the shadows lengthen.
