Peacefully situated at the end of a private access track, just 3 kilometres or so from the delightful Chianti hilltop town of Castellina, La Casetta offers an enviable degree of seclusion and the luxury of its own private swimming pool.
The swimming pool garden is 50 metres from the cottage and is furnished with sun lays tables and chairs and offers views across the Chianti hills with shade provided by century old Cypress trees. Although the owner's house is by the pool garden the pool is private to La Casetta. The owner is rarely there but the house keeper will attend to your every need.
This old hay barn has been restored into an extremely comfortable family cottage, retaining all of its down-to-earth country charm with wooden flooring throughout. Just a short distance from Castellina in Chianti this villa is centrally located with good access to historical sites and towns, such as Siena, Florence and San Gimignano.
From the porch, the huge hearth of the old fireplace in the living room lends a real country feel to this spacious room, which has Sat TV. Off of the living room there is a Lemonary /dining room which leads into the garden and the olives groves beyond. For your arrival the house keeper places fresh eggs, milk, bread and fruit juice in the kitchen.
The sleeping quarters are reached off the lounge and comprise one double bedroom and one twin bedroom, one with bathtub and one with shower . A self-contained studio apartment on the ground floor has a spacious double bedroom and a bathroom with bathtub. There are hairdryers for clients convenience.
When you can tear yourself away from the privacy of your own pool, the stunning hilltop Chianti town of Radda can be reached by car in twenty minutes, the glorious city of Siena is little under half-an-hour and Florence in little over an hour.
Closer to home, the ancient Chianti town of Castellina with its crocked streets has an enticing array of restaurants to choose from following the tradition of the Chianti Classico and a smattering of tempting craft shops.
Note that the main house has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, while the attached cottage has 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom. These two do not intercommunicate. Access to the cottage is to the back of the main house.

The owners 2 dogs live with the house keeper, they are peaceful and roam the driveway.

The house was comfortable, nice bathrooms and views were outstanding. We enjoyed the pool and town of Castellina. Charming with nice restaurants and shops without being touristy. Very nice location.
We felt the house needed a few things. One important item was lights. There were few and not good for reading. There could also be more seating. We were three couples and not enough chairs for everyone. Also felt the kitchen could have been cleaner, stove particularly.
We liked the town alot. Nice wine, art and butcher shops. We enjoyed dinner at La Torre. The most spectacular attraction was the gelato at L'Antica Delizia. It was the best any of us had ever had anywhere. We were regulars.

Highlights: lots of them - visits to Siena, Pisa and Florence. The beautiful view from the pool. The wild boar visiting the garden on several occasions!

Our accommodation, which cost less than £800 for the week, is in a converted stone farmhouse next to a 12th Century Franciscan chapel. There is a pergola shaded by vines round the back here we quickly settle into a rhythm of eating long pasta suppers while the shadows lengthen.
